Snow In My Forecast

Me skiing Mt. Bohemia several years ago
A few days ago, my dad called me up on the phone.  He said "Hey, what would you say if I paid for you to fly up and go skiing with your brother for a week?"

I was all over it, "I'll just need to know for sure by tomorrow so I can ask off of work... but heck yes I am all over this!"

That phone call was so out of the blue.  I had basically written off getting even a single day of skiing in this year, and now it looks like I'm going to be getting about 5 or 6.  Man, this is going to be awesome!  So for the past several days, my brother and I have been texting and emailing like crazy, trying to put together a ski trip of epic proportions on extremely short notice.  The planning has been stressful already, but it is going to be so worth it when we are shredding the best resorts in Northern Minnesota, Northern Wisconsin, and the Upper Peninsula! Definitely on the radar is at least two days of skiing at Mt. Bohemia, easily the gnarliest ski resort in the midwest!  (The photos in this post are all from the last trip I took up to Bohemia, back in high school with a couple of friends).

The day or two after receiving that phone call, I was actually a mixed bag of emotions.
  • I was DEFINITELY excited to get some skiing in after almost a 2 year haitus.
  • There was some apprehension about the unknown of it all, and a weirdness that skiing and everything that it entails is now outside of my comfort zone.
  • Odd as it sounds, I was a little confused about weather I would rather be biking or skiing.  It's definitely going to impact my goal of 2,000 miles this year.  I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do.
  • Also, I was planning on hitting a new trail or two during my spring break (However, the weather forecast is looking rainy for the majority of it now).
  • And, I was already feeling lonely even though I hadn't even left my wife yet.  This'll be the first time apart that we've had since we got married

In the end, incredible excitement to FINALLY be skiing again won out.  I am so stoked to get up there and shred it up!  It has been way too long!

Hopefully, I can post periodic updates here on the blog.  Definitely be following my Twitter feed on the right side for frequent  updates.
